Hourglass

I wish I held the hourglass
So time would quickly pass.
I wish the grains were small enough
To see your face at last.

To look at you.
To hold your gaze.
The possibilities,
I’m still amazed.

I wish I held the hourglass
Containing all the grains by the sea.
I wish the grains were large enough
So time would slow for you and me.

I’d flip the glass
Or add some sand
To stretch the time
To hold your hand

Let my heart beat fast
Let the time grow slow
As I hold your hand
And our new love grows.
