You’re Too Far Away

Off you go, and
The farther you walk
The closer you come.
‘Cause darling the earth’s round.

And you can only be a world away,
The diameter of the earth away.
Any farther and you’d be closer:
It’s a funny thing to say.

How far is a world away?
The distance when one’s away?

7,926.41 miles through the earth away:
12,450.76 miles on foot away.

A breath away:
The distance that dust floats, away.

The distance between black and grey, away:
The definition of a shade, away.

The tick of a clock away:
An eternity, away.

  1. Lilly, I love this poem. Very lovely figurative speech.

  2. Thanks dear :) my fav is the diameter (7,926.41 miles) versus half the circumference 12,450.76 mi) of the earth reference.
